January 31 Martin & his new toy, & pre-barf picsMartin just sent me some pictures that his father (Terry) took over the holidays... here is his new car that he drove across the island to Tofino for New Year's... and here is a picture before we embarked on the fast ferry to Vancouver, which was a WEE bit rocky and a certain person woofed her cookies (or salad that I had for lunch) most of the way. Ya - it was LOVELY. Let's just say that I definitely know that small boats in rough water and me DO NOT MIX. GREEN EGGS!!We got eggs from a co-worker who raises chickens on her property and guess what??!! Some of the egg shells are GREEN. Yes, I said green. Those eggs are laid by chickens from Chile and then there are brown ones (from Norwegian chickens) and white ones (from English chickens)... who knew that Dr. Seuss was telling the truth about "Green Eggs and Ham"???? January 22 Salsa & New HopeAhhh, the addiction is back... I went Salsa dancing last night and had a blast. A co-worker named Jonathan invited me to a studio in New Jersey (see "Atrium Dance Studio" link on the side panel under "Philly Salsa") that he takes lessons at. They had their Latin Party which happens twice a month. I only got lost about ten times getting there and learned that it is best to take the major freeway than attempt the back roads! Hence, I will follow directions EXACTLY instead of trying to find an alternate route. There is a boulevard/freeway thing in Philadelphia that I must have gotten on and off of five times before finding the exit that I wanted! So, I missed the lesson, but Jonathan introduced me to some people and I had lots of dances right up to when I decided to leave (at 2:30am - hee hee - and the party was STILL going!). I was mistaken for being Puerto Rican and told that I was the best dancer around (Ooo, I LIKE that kind of flattery!) and invited to other parties/events on Wednesday and Friday. See... it has started again. Anyway, I had such fun and am only a bit stiff so far... tomorrow may be another story.
Barb and I went to a town called New Hope for the afternoon (see my new photos on the "Jennifer's Pictures" link). It supposedly has 200 galleries and artisan shops. We had a lovely time and will definitely go back. I think we only made it to half a dozen shops or so, because we kept talking with people we met up with. We had a delightful time at "C'est la vie" coffee shop and talked for over an hour with a couple named Cliff and Anita. Anita's parents were French and she was born in Canada (spent vacations in Ontario and lived in Orillia for a couple of years too). She loves photography and gave several suggestions for where to find some Polish communities in PA (Barb is of Polish descent). Cliff is a builder who moonlights as a political campaign consultant in San Fancisco. We found a furniture shop that gave us a contact for a man who makes tabletop fountains (which I just might get for my little cubicle - to make a little background noise and pretend that I have a bit of nature in my office). We found some great posters to also spruce up cubicleland and discovered a guy who makes incredible picture frames and wood tables.
I am wiped out from having only a few hours of sleep and from using muscles that haven't been used in over a year. It will be early to bed for me! January 18 Signed LeaseBarb & I signed the lease for our new home last night. Here we are enjoying a lovely orange roughy dinner - thanks to Barb's cooking (and my mashing of potatoes)... January 16 First Day at ECRII survived my first day at ECRI - ha ha... no really, it went quite well. Barb and I are not right beside eachother and we actually have different supervisors. I'm very happy with the one I got January 15 New House!Yay! Barb and I have already found a house to live in in Pennsylvania. It is just outside Conshohocken and only 6 minutes down the road from ECRI. We are thrilled to have found one so quickly which has everything we were looking for... now we just have to wait for Barb's stuff to arrive from Boston and my stuff to come from Yellowknife (NOT holding my breath). Check out the house pictures on my "PHOTOS Link". |
