August 30 Kodak site FIXEDThe Kodak site has just been fixed, so you don't need to use the individual links on the left - just "Jennifer's Pictures"...
(Click on "Albums" at the top right corner of the window). Photo links to the LEFT - no captions yetI have wittled down my "Best of Kenya" photos from over 2000 to under 300, so it shouldn't be TOO painful to go through. I haven't had time to add captions yet either, so bear with me and check the album later for more stories. Sheila has also posted some pics on Flickr as well - you may see some duplication and some different ones. August 28 Problems with Kodak siteI am still sorting through my photos, but even if I was finished, the Kodak site is having problems... I may have to post a link to the album instead of the "Jennifer's Pictures" link until it gets fixed... I'm about half way through sorting, so I should be done SOON. Oh here are the pictures of Kenyatta National Hospital (largest public hospital in Kenya located in Nairobi).
August 22 Baby Elephant VideoThe Sheldrick Foundation has a baby elephant rehabilitation program and their facility in Karen (a suburb of Nairobi) allows the public to visit with the elephants for one hour each day. We were able to squeeze it into my last day in Nairobi along with a visit to the giraffe sanctuary, lunch at Karen Blixen's something or other (can't remember) and several shopping stops. One elephant actually tried to cross the rope right in front of me - my heart was pounding and my pants got spattered with elephant mud! It was awesome! Sheila is now sponsoring Zurura and baby elephant that was rescued from an open pit ruby mine (http://www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/asp/orphan_profile.asp?N=146). Here's my video of the elelphants...
Video of me playing with OliviaHopefully this YouTube link will work... Sheila recorded this while I was playing with Olivia in the hot springs pool in the forrest of Malu Farm near Naivasha, Kenya.
August 21 Back in PAI'm back in Pennsylvania in the suburban USA... quite the change from Kenya! I have to sort through uh a couple of thousand photos before subjecting others to my trip pics... don't worry I should be able to get them down to a hundred or so. Travel back was a real ordeal and I recommend completely avoiding London, UK at the moment and if you travel internationally (especially for business) be very careful to make sure your laptop fits into the handbag size restrictions (I got stuck with a SIGHTLY too fat briefcase and had to go through unbelievable hassle in London). The workshop was exhausting, but I think it helped in some ways to provide some training and highlight the need for healthcare technology management in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. The Kenya Ministry of Health is actually working on draft policies now and hopefully there will be some improvements for the engineers and technicians - even a name change from "Maintenance" to "Medical Engineering". My visit with Sheila and Olivia last week was incredible and I will tell more stories later when I post my pictures. I am so happy for both of them - to have eachother. After Olivia's difficult start in life, she is now blossoming into a thoroughly delightful little girl. She sure charmed me and had me completely enthralled the whole week. August 04 CUTE PIC OF ANDREA & ALHey Boo!
I think I have figured this out! Here is that cute pic of Al & I on the bike, just as we are leaving Mom & Dad's! Enjoy! Be super safe on your trip and have tones of fun! Love you lots, Andrea. August 01 Lovely Olivia - Already a year old!Ooops! I missed Olivia's birthday in the midst of all the workshop chaos (July 14th)... but at least I get to see her SOON. |
